Assistant Accountant

Job Purpose

Reviewing and checking the monthly invoices to ensure accuracy. Working with the sales and account management team to ensure that all the required information has been provided in advance of billing as well as supporting the business around the collection of bad debt.

The role will also own the staff expenses system for the company looking to enhance the usability of the system along with keeping the functionality aligned with current legislation.

Accountabilities/Responsibilities

  • Take responsibility for the monthly invoicing runs
  • Handle customer queries over phone and email
  • Annual inflation updates and assist with price book changes
  • Working with Sales to set up new clients
  • Ensure successful uploads of Direct Debit collection from customers
  • Assist in debt collections in combination with sales and account management
  • Accounting tasks: any monthly journals, raising of adhoc AR invoices, balance sheet reconciliations
  • Production of data for staff bonus calculations
  • Monitoring, control and reporting of employee expenses
  • Contribute to the data structuring to ensure the best information is provided within analysis
  • Continued improvement to processes and operations
  • Cover for absent colleagues as needed
  • Share fielding of incoming office calls
  • Ad hoc duties

Experience and skills required

  • Intermediate Accountancy knowledge
  • Attention to detail
  • Good Excel
  • Content to work in a cross-team environment

Experience and skills that would be advantageous

  • Tax knowledge
  • Concur knowledge
  • Experience in the sales cycle
  • Power BI
